A little about me…

I was born and raised on Long Island, NY, one of many in a large Italian family.  I studied and graduated from St John’s University in Queens, NY earning a BS in Computer Science and have an MBA and Master’s Degree in Information Systems Management from the Keller Graduate School of Management. Ever the learner, I’m now in pursuit of my PhD in social psychology.

While at St John’s, I was a D1 track and field athlete who missed making the Olympic trials in 1988 by a mere 2 seconds (a hard one to swallow).  Much later in life, I attempted to make the Olympic team again, this time in the sport of Biathlon, only to go to the Olympics as a spectator.  But that’s another story.  I only bring this up to say, I’m very competitive and no quitter.

I’ve lived in the north and now in the south and have traveled the world only to find, there really is no place like home.

I’ve been married several times, and have finally won the love lottery!  My wife and I have a wonderfully blended family of 10 children; a yours, mine and ours as it were.  I found myself becoming a dad once again in the second half of my life to our beautiful, now five-year old, Bella.  It’s somewhat like having a grandchild that’s your own baby.  What a great experience!

I’ve accomplished a lot in my professional life, owning several businesses including an investment advisory service, a wine and spirits store and an artisan chocolate shop.  I suppose I’ve been an entrepreneur my entire life.  I’ve also worked for “the man” holding several positions within corporate America and was once an adjunct professor teaching business, IT and project management to those seeking to better themselves.  I’ve started and now direct a non-profit foundation, Friends To The Rescue, an organization dedicated to preventing bullying.  And, in the midst of all this,  I found myself a stay-at-home-dad for some time.  Now, I can add “author” to my list.

I’ve been fortunate to have lived a life that’s allowed me to reinvent myself over and over.  Of all the experiences I’ve had, being a dad outshines them all.

In the end, I guess I’m just an average guy who simply found correlations to a known comet and the writings of a 500-year-old seer.
